Maroon cross country takes third and ninth at Wisconsin-Oshkosh

WINNECONNE, Wis. – In their largest meet on the season schedule, the University of Chicago women's cross country team placed third and the men's team placed ninth at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Kollege Town Sports Invitational on Saturday.

The women's 6K and men's 8K races featured 45 total schools and more than 1,200 participants combined at Lake Breeze Golf Club.

UChicago's women were third of 36 teams with 137 points. Washington University-St. Louis was the team champion with 94 points. Junior Khia Kurtenbach was the top finisher in 11th place in a time of 21:58.41. The Maroons packed together with three other racers in the top 35 – junior Claire Costelloe (29th, 22:42.48), junior Kelsey Dunn (30th, 22:43.74) and junior Cassidy McPherson (32nd, 22:48.05).

On the men's side, the Maroons were ninth of 37 teams with 326 points. North Central College blew past the field with a winning point total of 24. Senior Timofey Karginov returned to the top of UChicago's lineup by placing 15th in 25:25.6. Junior Peter Kreuch (79th, 26:18.3) and senior Eyal Hanfling (86th, 26:21.4) both placed in the top 100.
