WHITESBURG, Ga. – The University of Chicago women's cross country team took runner-up as a team and the men finished sixth at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships on Saturday.
Washington University-St. Louis won the women's team title with 33 points. UChicago was second out of eight teams with 75 points. A total of 78 runners participated in the women's 6K race.
For the second-straight year, junior Khia Kurtenbach finished second overall. She earned First Team All-UAA in a time of 25:04.87. Junior Kelsey Dunn was a Second Team All-UAA honoree after taking 12th in a time of 22:23.74. Overall, the Maroons placed four runners in the top 20, including senior Madeleine Horvath (17th, 22:39.32) and junior Cassidy McPherson (19th, 22:43.52).
On the men's side, Washington-St. Louis and Carnegie Mellon University were UAA co-champions with 58 points each. The Maroons were sixth with 137 points. The men's 8K race featured 76 racers.
