Maroon Cross Country Receives Team and Individual USTFCCCA All-Academic Awards

2018 USTFCCCA All-Academic Awards

CHICAGO – Both University of Chicago cross country teams, along with a group of 12 individual runners, were recognized on Thursday for their academic and athletic accomplishments with 2018 All-Academic Awards from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Runners qualified for the award by finishing in the top 25 percent of their respective NCAA Regional meets while maintaining a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30.

On the women's side, seven individuals earned All-Academic status – juniors Maggie Boudreau and Claire Brockway; sophomores Emma Dyer, Sophie Elgamal and Abigail Shoemaker; and first-years Lucy Jeffs and Kaitlyn Van Baalen.

Senior Ansel Richards, junior Tim Koenning, sophomore Chase Gardner, and first-years Sam Craig and Henry Myers claimed five total All-Academic accolades on the men's side.

UChicago was also honored for its team academic achievement, as measured in average GPA. The men posted a 3.48 mark, while the women came in at 3.55. Eligible teams must have compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional meet and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.10 on a 4.0 scale.
