CHICAGO – University of Chicago swim and dive jumped back into the pool for the first time in 2024 and took on local Big Ten foe Northwestern in a single team dual on Saturday afternoon. While the Wildcats took home the victory, the Maroons kept working toward the conference championships and set a new pool record in the process.
TEAM RESULTS
Men's Team: 2
nd place (69 total points)
Women's Team: 2
nd place (73 total points)
MEN'S TEAM RECAP
- The men's team earned at least a top three finish in nine different events on Saturday as they finished second to Northwestern in the overall team score. Armand Chan had two of those results, coming in third during the 100 and 200-yard backstrokes Spencer Dearman propelled himself off the board into a third-place finish in the one-meter dive as well, but the highlight of the afternoon belonged to Jesse Ssengonzi. Ssengonzi won the 100 fly in a new Myers-McLoraine Pool record time of 46.50 which is also the top 100 fly time in D3 this season. The mark was only .03 off his school record and the time he turned in at NCAA championships in 2022 when he won the national title.
