HOW IT HAPPENED
- vs. UIC
- The Maroons started off the weekend with a pair of two-point victories against the Flames of D-I local foe UIC. Each gender won eight races with two of the men's victories coming in relay form.
- Garrett Clasen stood out for the guys and had victories in the 100-yard IM and 200-yard freestyle events.
- Meanwhile, the ladies had three two event winners. Both Karen Zhao (50-yard freestyle, 500-yard freestyle) and Annabel Olivo (100-yard IM, 200-yard freestyle) won a pair of races while Veronica Fong swept both the one-meter and three-meter diving events.
- vs. Calvin
- UChicago took on Calvin less than 24 hours after dispatching the Flames and had much more room for error when it came to the overall team scores as both won by more than 50 points. However, there wasn't much error to be had with 22 wins in total.
- The men had 12 of those victories with eight different swimmers and two different relay teams being represented. One of the victories came from Robert Quan when he won the 200-yard freestyle by less than five tenths of a second. Rylan Kruep also finished in a dead tie as he shared the win with his opponent from Calvin in the 50-yard freestyle. Spencer Dearman also recorded a NCAA Provisional score with his winning dive in the three meter during the meet.
- The women added ten more victories to their weekend total and spread around those wins. Only Alicia Soosai (100-yard breaststroke, 200-yard breaststroke) won two events with the rest being represented by seven other student-athletes and one relay team. Veronica Fong kept up her strong weekend as well and won her third diving event when she took the victory in the three meter dive.
