Box Score 3 KALAMAZOO, Mich. – One week after going up against D-I foes at the 2024 Gopher Invitational, University of Chicago women's tennis had another task on their hands at the ITA Regionals. The Maroons were not only impressive, but they were also dominating as UChicago swept the singles and doubles championships to give them plenty of momentum heading into the ITA Cup.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- SINGLES
- All six University of Chicago singles players found major success at the regional competition with each advancing to at least the quarterfinal round. That is where Sylwia Mikos and Isabelle Chong exited but Oliwia Mikos and Sarena Biria made it one step further before losing in the semis.
- The two-left standing, Erica Ekstrand and Clara Zou, headed back to the Windy City to battle each other for the singles crown on Monday. Just a few months after Rena Lin and Sylwia Mikos faced off against each other in a teammate vs. teammate national championship match, Ekstrand and Zou competed with the regional title on the line. The battle of the two UChicago newcomers ended up going Zou's way with the first year claiming a 6-2, 6-2 win over graduate student Ekstrand.
- DOUBLES
- The same level of success followed the Maroons into doubles play. Instead of making at least the quarterfinals, each pair advanced to within one game of the championship match. Zou and Biria's journey ended at the hands of the Mikos sisters in the semifinal while Ekstrand and Chong departed the tournament after a defeat to a duo from WashU
- It was the Mikos sisters that were the one team left standing when all was said and done. After a first-round bye, they claimed wins of 8-2, 8-4, 8-2, and 8-1 before avenging their teammates and taking down the Bears team of Bui/Archer via an exciting 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 final score to give UChicago the sweep of the regional titles.
WHO'S ON DECK
The last event on the fall docket for the women will be the ITA Cup later this month. They'll head to Rome, Ga. for that competition which will start on Thursday, October 10
