CHICAGO - UChicago Swim & Dive hosted 6 teams for the 15th Annual Phoenix Fall Classic. It was a two-way race for the team titles, with #4/#4 NYU taking home the wins for both the men and the women. In what was an incredibly fast midseason meet, UChicago broke 4 school records and 3 pool records, also achieving 50 NCAA B Cuts.
Overall, both the men and women have all five of their relays that have achieved NCAA B Cuts. In addition, all five Maroon divers achieved NCAA B Cuts on both boards.
Jonathan Tang set the school record in the 50 Freestyle, minutes after Sebi Verhnes had broken the previous school record. Cooper Costello broke the school record in the 200 butterfly, also posting the fastest 200 fly time in the Division III. Verhnes also won the 100 Free and anchored the winning 400 Free Relay that also set a pool record with Tang, Ben Catton, and John Butler. Danyal Ghadiali won both the 1-Meter and 3-Meter Diving boards.
For the women, Alicia Soosai set the school record in the 100 Breast and won the 200 Breast. Lilia Atanda swept the 1-Meter and 3-Meter Diving, while Elisabella Forest stormed to the win in the 200 Backstroke. The 400 Medley Relay of Forest, Soosai, Emily Xu and Karen Zhao broke the school record that was set in 2023.
