UChicago Swim & Dive defeats Wash U

CHICAGO-  In a show down off UAA rivals and nationally ranked teams, UChicago (Men ranked No. 2 and Women ranked No. 7) defeated WashU (Men ranked 9th and Women 16th).   
 
TEAM RESULTS 
No. 2 Men's Team: 1st place (159.5 points)  
No. 7 Women's Team: 1st place (194  points) 

 
MEN'S TEAM RECAP 

  • The men defeated Wash U 159.5-127.5, winning 10 of 16 events.  

  • Sebi Vernhes led the UChicago men, winning both of his individual events, 50 Free and 100 Free, and anchoring the victorious 200 Medley and 200 Free Relays.  

  • Cooper Costello was also a double winner for the Maroons, taking the 100 & 200 Butterflies. 

  • Zach Berg had an impressive meet for the Maroons as the first-year took home victories in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. 

UCHICAGO MEN'S WINNERS 

  • 50-yard Freestyle: Sebi Vernhes (21.04) 

  • 100-yard Freestyle: Sebi Vernhes (46.16) 

  • 1-meter Diving:  Zach Berg (241.95)                

  • 3-meter Diving: Zach Berg (202.35) 

WOMEN'S TEAM RECAP 

  • The women defeated Wash U 194 to 105, winning 14 of 16 events.  

  • Divers Sumiye Allen and Lilia Atanda swept the diving board, earning the NCAA provisional score on both boards, with Allen winning 1M and Atanda winning 3M.  

UCHICAGO WOMEN'S WINNERS 

  • 1-meter Diving: Sumiye Allen (278.25)                

WHAT'S NEXT 
The Maroons will be back inside the Ratner Athletic Center on Friday, hosting nine teams from across the nation for the fourth annual D3 Shootout. The first event will kickoff at 4:00 pm.
