HOW IT HAPPENED
- vs. Chicago State (1-6)
- No. 8 University of Chicago (6-0) began play on the weekend under D-I rules when they took on Chicago State across town on Friday night. The Maroons won the second and third doubles matches allowing them to go up 1-0 entering singles play.
- UChicago's success kept moving right along when they took on the Cougars in solo matches. While they'd drop the first dual out of the top spot, the Maroons would go on to win the next five matches to secure the victory and went 4-2 overall in singles play.
- vs. Holy Cross College (1-2)
- The Maroons had trouble early against Holy Cross College and dropped two of the three doubles matches. However, since they were still playing by seven point rules, the Maroons only gave up a single tally to their opponents.
- Down 1-0, the Saints came close to knocking the Maroons off. HCC was able to grab two more points in singles but UChicago was able to edge them out with four wins in this portion of play. The match winning tally came from Derek Hsieh who won his second spot matchup 6-1, 7-5.
WHO'S ON DECK
