HOW IT HAPPENED
- vs. College of St. Scholastica
- University of Chicago (8-6) jumped out ahead of the College of St. Scholastica in their first at-bats as Maya Martinez gave them the 1-0 lead with a single to center to start off their last day of action. They'd add two more in the third but more was to come.
- The Maroons doubled their offense output in the fifth thanks to two Saints errors and another RBI single from Martinez. CSS wouldn't go down without a fight however. Scholastica rallied and scored two in the sixth before adding three in the seventh and cutting the Chicago lead down to just one.
- Thankfully, Maroons pitching left them right there with Paige Heffke coming in for the save with back-to-back strikeouts with the tying run on third base.
- vs. UW-Platteville
- With one last game on the docket, the Maroons wanted to leave Florida with another win under their belt. Standing in their way was UW-Platteville and unfortunately it was a case where one wrong pitch could cost you the contest.
- The only run of the game was scored by the Pioneers leadoff hitter in the bottom of the first inning. She deposited the ball over the fence for a solo home run that put UW-Platteville up 1-0.
- Paige Heffke didn't allow a single run or hit after that point but UChicago couldn't push any runners of their own across with their three hits in the contest in a 1-0 defeat to end their trip.
