ROME, Ga. -- University of Chicago women's tennis senior
Sarena Biria came up short in her opening match of the ITA Cup on Thursday morning with a three-set loss to Rebecca Kong of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
Biria came up short in the opening set as Kong was able to pick up a couple of breaks of serve to take the set 6-3, but the Kansas City native was able to bounce back in the second set with key breaks of serve herself to level the match at one set apiece with a 6-2 set win.
In the third set, Kong was on fire for the entire set and broke all three of Biria's service chances to complete the three-set win with a 6-1 score in the final set.
Biria will return to the court on Friday morning at 9 AM ET, competing in the consolation round against Ginevra Muratori from Skidmore College.
