Box Score ROME, Ga. -- The University of Chicago men's tennis doubles teams went 1-1 on day two of the ITA Cup. Heyang Li and Albert Mackey earned a victory on the consolation side of the bracket, and Christian Liew and Shrikeshav Murugesan came up short against a tough Emory squad in the quarterfinals.

Li and Mackey squared off against Whitman College's Charles Rush and Artem Manov in another tightly contested quarterfinal. The UChicago pair dropped the first set 7-5, but they bounced back in the second, finding their rhythm to take it 6-4 and force a tiebreak. In one of the closest finishes of the day so far, Li and Mackey edged out a 14-12 win to earn their first win of the week.

In the quarterfinal round, Liew and Murugesan opened strong against Emory's Matthew Johnstone and Ajay Kartik, taking the first set 6-1 with a pair of service breaks. The Eagles responded with a 6-3 win in the second set, and the match came down to another third-set tiebreak. UChicago kept it close early, but Emory pulled away late to seal a 10-4 win.
