CHICAGO, Ill. -- The University of Chicago women's tennis team returns to action this weekend for their first home tournament in recorded history as the Maroons welcome UIC and Holy Cross to the Stagg Tennis Courts. Matches will begin at 10 AM on Saturday and 9 AM on Sunday. * UChicago competes in their third tournament of the fall after playing in the Jon Messick Invitational at Colorado State and the ITA Regional Tournament at WashU earlier this year.
* The Maroons finished the Jon Messick Invite with a 12-20 singles record and a 10-13 doubles record on the weekend.
* In the ITA Regional tournament, the Maroons accumulated an outstanding 19-6 record in singles play.
* Sarena Biria became the eighth player in UChicago women's tennis history to win the ITA Central Regional singles title after a 6-0 record on the weekend.
* Anika Paul joined Biria in the semifinals with wins over Case Western (2), Denison, and WashU before falling to Biria in an All-UChicago semifinal.
* Four other Maroons reached the Round of 16 including Isabelle Chong, Tina Kintiroglou, Lily Zawaneh, and Clara Zou.
* In doubles play, Zawaneh and Lauren Khou went the furthest of all UChicago teams with a semifinals berth before falling to WashU.
* After competing in the Chicago Cup this weekend, Sarena Biria will wrap up the fall season for the women's tennis team as she represents the Maroons in the ITA Cup in Rome, Georgia from October 16-19.
