CHICAGO -- The 8th-ranked University of Chicago men's swimming and diving team opens the 2025-26 season by hosting Illinois Tech and Wheaton (IL) for a Tri-Meet at 1 PM on Saturday, October 25. Live swimming results can be found on Meet Mobile.
#8 UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO NOTES:
* #8 UChicago opens its 2025-26 campaign after bringing home a seventh-place finish in the 2025 NCAA Championships.
* The Maroons broke seven school records and earned 20 All-American awards at the National Championship meet.
* The UChicago diving trio of
Sumiye Allen,
Lilia Atanda, and
Veronica Fong all brought home multiple All-American awards for the Maroons. Allen earned 1st-Team honors in the 1m competition, and Fong earned 1st-Team honors in the 3m competition.

Emily Xu was the top performer in the pool for the Maroons with six All-American awards last season. Xu earned 1st-Team honors in both Medley Relay events, and she earned 2nd-Team honors in the 100 Fly, 100 Free, 200 Free Relay, and 800 Free Relay.

Alicia Soosai joined Xu with 1st-Team All-American honors on both Medley Relay events, and she added 2nd-Team All-American honors in the 100 Breast and 200 Breast.

Lauren Richards rounded out the individual All-American award winners for UChicago after her 11th-place finish in the 1650 Free earned her 2nd-Team All-American honors.

Sophia Lee,
Annabel Olivo, and
Genesee Quon rounded out the All-American awards for the Maroons, earning 2nd-Team honors in the 200 Free and 800 Free Relays.
* After their season-opening weekend in their home pool, UChicago will travel to St. Louis for one of their two road meets of the season against #14 WashU on November 1.
ILLINOIS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY NOTES:
* Illinois Tech enters the weekend with a 0-1 record in dual meets on the season.
* The Scarlet Hawks fell to UW-Whitewater with a score of 177-72 earlier this year.
* Illinois Tech earned a fourth-place finish in the Liberal Arts Conference Championships last season.
* Claire van Biljon and Kristen Hampton were the lone Illinois Tech swimmers to record multiple top-2 finishes in individual events in the season opener.
* Hampton won the 200 IM and finished second in the 500 Free, and van Biljon won the 50 Free and finished second in the 100 Fly.
* Following their meet with the Maroons and the Thunder, Illinois Tech will travel to Waukesha, Wisconsin to battle the Carroll (WI) Pioneers on November 8.
WHEATON COLLEGE (IL) NOTES:
* Saturday will be the opening meet of the season for Wheaton (IL).
* The Thunder finished in third in the CCIW Championships last season.
* Tess Boyer is the top returner for the Wheaton (IL) swim team after appearing in the 2025 NCAA Championships.
* Boyer earned 2nd-Team All-American honors in the 400 IM with a 13th-place finish. She also placed 17th in the 200 IM and 24th in the 200 Fly, becoming the first Wheaton (IL) women's swimmer to qualify for the National Championships since 2019.
* Boyer also earned CCIW Swimmer of the Meet honors at last year's CCIW Championships.
* On the diving side, Lara Stamp is the top returner for the Thunder after being named the CCIW Diver of the Meet at the 2025 CCIW Championships.
* Following their meet with the Maroons and the Scarlet Hawks, Wheaton (IL) will travel to Milwaukee to battle the UW-Milwaukee Panthers on October 31.

* UChicago has a 4-0 all-time record against Illinois Tech, including the Maroons' 247-42 win over the Scarlet Hawks last season.
* The Maroons' closest meet against the Scarlet Hawks was back in 2023 when UChicago won 166-130.
* UChicago has a 6-0 all-time record against Wheaton (IL), including the Maroons' 238-52 win over the Thunder last season.
