CHICAGO -- University of Chicago sophomore John Butler was named the UAA Men's Swimmer of the Week, as announced by the University Athletic Association on Monday afternoon.

Butler was the top UChicago swimmer in each of their first two meets of the season this weekend. In Friday's win over #25 Lewis, Butler won the 200 Free (1:40.29), 200 Back (1:52.08), and 200 Free Relay (1:24.21).

Then, on Saturday, the cognitive science major from Cedar Falls, Iowa won all four of his events including the 50 Free (20.77), 100 Free (45.23), 200 Medley Relay (1:32.50), and 400 Free Relay (3:07.54).

The Athlete of the Week award is the first of his career, and he joins Cooper Costello as the only active UChicago men's swimmers to earn Athlete of the Week honors in the association.

Butler and the rest of the UChicago men's swimming & diving team will return to action on November 1, as the Maroons travel to St. Louis for a top-10 matchup with #10 WashU in one of their two meets away from home this season.
