CHICAGO -- University of Chicago freshman Adelia Biello was named the UAA Women's Swimmer of the Week, as announced by the University Athletic Association on Monday afternoon.
Biello made her collegiate debut for the Maroons this weekend, and she made an instant impact by winning five events in the first two meets of the year.
On Friday, the freshman won the 100 Fly (58.06) and 200 Free Relay (1:37.51) as the anchor. Then, on Saturday, the neuroscience major from Davis, California won the 100 Free (53.28), 200 Free (1:55.98), and 400 Free Relay (3:36.24) to lead the Maroons to a 3-0 start to the year.
The Athlete of the Week award is the first of her career, and she joins Alicia Soosai and Lauren Richards as the only active UChicago women's swimmers to earn Athlete of the Week honors in the association.
Biello and the rest of the UChicago women's swimming & diving team will return to action on November 1, as the Maroons travel to St. Louis for a top-15 matchup with #14 WashU in one of their two meets away from home this season.
