Box Score CHICAGO, Ill. -- The University of Chicago women's tennis team continues to dominate in the fall season as they took on UIC and Holy Cross in the inaugural Chicago Cup.
The Maroons took on both the Flames and the Crusaders in doubles action on Saturday to open the day, and they compiled an overall record of 5-2.
In the opening match, UChicago and UIC split their matches 2-2.
Charlotte Klein and
Sarena Biria were able to outlast their opponents with a big 8-7(7-4) victory in the tiebreaker. The freshman duo of
Tina Kintiroglou and
Anika Paul also rolled to a victory in their opening match with an 8-1 win for the Maroons.
In the second match of the day, UChicago rolled past Holy Cross, winning all three of their matches.
Ariana Liu and
Sunny Lu brought home an 8-1 win in their first match of the day. Kintiroglou teamed up with
Oliwia Mikos to win 8-2, and Klein teamed up with
Lauren Khou to win 8-4 in the remaining two matches.
The Maroons will return to the court on Sunday to take on both UIC and Holy Cross in singles matches. UChicago will battle UIC at 9 AM, and they will take on Holy Cross at 1 PM.
