CHICAGO, Ill. -- The University of Chicago doubles team of Christian Liew and Shrikeshav Murugesan earned the University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week honors, as announced by the association office on Monday afternoon.

Liew and Murugesan took home the ITA Central Region Doubles title on Wednesday afternoon with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over their teammates, Albert Mackey and Heyang Li.

The win marks the fifth time in UChicago history that the Maroons have brought home the Central Region doubles title. It also locks up All-American honors for the UChicago duo.

The Player of the Week award is the first of the career for both Liew and the second of the career for Murugesan after Murugesan won the award two weeks ago following the Toledo Invitational.

Liew and Murugesan will join Mackey and Li in the ITA Cup in Rome, Georgia from October 16-19 for the penultimate tournament of the fall season.
