CHICAGO -- The ninth-ranked University of Chicago women's swimming and diving team brought home a second-place finish from the D3 Shootout over the weekend in a tight meet that came down to the final race.

The Maroons opened the D3 Shootout strong with wins in eight of the 20 events and eight different B-Cuts in the meet.

Sumiye Allen led the Maroons by sweeping the diving titles in the meet with a pair of B Cut scores. Allen tallied a 287.80 in the 3-meter competition and a 262.85 in the 1-meter competition.

Alicia Soosai led the Maroons in the swimming portion of the meet as the lone athlete to win multiple individual events. Soosai swept the breaststroke events with a pair of B Cut times.

A pair of UChicago freshmen also added first-place finishes in the meet. Alexandra Milisavljevic won the 500 Free with a time of 5:01.71, and Sophia Xu won the 100 Fly with a time of 56.07.

The Maroons also won a pair of relay titles in the meet with the team taking first in both mixed relays. Ella McEver and Alicia Soosai teamed up to win the Mixed 400 Medley Relay, and Emily Xu and Genesee Quon represented the women with a first-place finish in the Mixed 400 Free Relay.

Following the second-place finish, the Maroons will return to the pool for their midseason meet with the Phoenix Fall Classic at the Myers-McLoraine Pool from November 21-23.
