GAME NOTES
CHICAGO, Ill. -- The University of Chicago softball team travels to Clermont, Florida for eight games over the spring break trip, and they continue their trip on Monday as they battle UW-La Crosse and Amherst.
UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO NOTES:
*Â UChicago enters their spring trip at 3-5 overall after splitting their opening games of their Florida trip with a 9-3 win over Middlebury and an 11-4 loss to Plymouth State.
*Â The Maroons dropped their first four games before bouncing back with three straight wins over Alma, Stevens, and Middlebury.
*Â
Matilda Nelson has provided the power in a big way for UChicago this season with fiver home runs in her first eight games. She also leads the team with 10 RBIs and a 1.116 OPS.
*Â
Sedona Ding has the top batting average for the Maroons at 0.423 with a team-high 11 hits.
*Â
Laila Sims and
Olivia Cataldo join Nelson as the only other Maroons with multiple long balls in 2025. Sims also leads the team with 3 stolen bases.
*Â On the mound,
Alana Kimball and
Paige Heffke have both earned wins this season. Heffke leads the team with 26 strikeouts and just 2 walks in her 26.2 innings pitched in 2025.
*Â UChicago will open their home schedule on Wednesday, March 26 as they host the #18 Calvin Knights.
*Â The Maroons return to action on Wednesday as they take on Eastern Connecticut State and UW-River Falls.

UW-LA CROSSE NOTES:
* La-Crosse has started the season 6-2 after being picked fourth in the WIAC Preseason Poll.
* Pitched Madi Lee leads the staff for the Eagles with a 2-0 record and a 0.46 ERA with 13 strikeouts.
* Lindsay Steien enters The Spring Games with a .478 batting average throughout the Eagles eight games. With 11 hits and six runs on the season, Steien is a top hitter in the WIAC.
AMHERST NOTES:
* The Mammoths will also being their season in Florida after finishing 7-28 in the 2024 season.
* Sophomore Emma Nordstrom will return after leading the offense last year with a .326 average on 95 at bats. The then freshman recorded 31 hits, two doubles, and 11 RBIs.
* Pitcher Dani Torres Werra will return for her final season with the Mammoths after pitching in 18 of the 35 games last year. With a 3.94 ERA last season, Torress Werra pitched 80 innings and recorded 51 strikeouts.
