SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- The University of Chicago women's tennis team took down their second top-25 team in as many days and improved their winning streak to seven matches with a 6-1 win over #10 Trinity (TX) on Tuesday night.

The Maroons nabbed the doubles point to start the match with wins at the top two positions. After Shianna Guo and Lauren Khou rolled to a 6-1 victory in the #2 spot, Oliwia Mikos and Sylwia Mikos claimed the point with a 6-4 victory in the top spot.

In singles play, Sarena Biria took no time at all to double the UChicago lead with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at #3 singles. Then, after the Tigers cut the lead to 2-1, Clara Zou won her team-high 19th singles match of the season with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at #6 singles.

Erica Ekstrand closed out the match for the Maroons with a 6-2, 6-4 at #2 singles to extend the lead to 4-1. After losing the first set, Isabelle Chong battled her way back to send her match into a third set, and the freshman from Lake Forest, Illinois dominated in the final set, rolling her way to a 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 come-from-behind victory.

The final match on court was a back and forth battle at the #1 singles spot between Sylwia Mikos and Ruth Hill, two of the top Division III players in the country. Mikos was able to get a huge break of serve late in the first set to take a 7-5 advantage early on. However, Hill battled back to level the match at one set a piece with a 6-3 win in the second set. The final set was just like the rest of the match with both players looking for any edge they could get, but in the end, Mikos was able to pull out the final set 6-4 to pick up the win in the three-set thriller.

With the win, the Maroons improve to 12-1 on the season. They will return to the court on Thursday, March 20 as they battle the #10 Tufts Jumbos at 1 PM CT in Austin.
