ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The University of Chicago men's track and field team had a single runner compete in the WashU Distance Carnival on Friday with
Sanju Patel representing the Maroons at the high-level meet.
The sophomore from Durham, North Carolina ran the 10,000m Run for the first time in his collegiate career, and he found his way into the record book for the Maroons with the seventh-fastest time in school history.
Patel brought home a 51st place finish with a time of 30:45.18, but his time would have ranked in the top-75 of all runners in Division III last season. He also finished 25th amongst all Division III runners in the meet.
The full University of Chicago track and field team will return to action on Saturday, March 29, as they compete in the WashU Invitational to open their outdoor season.
