CHICAGO, Ill. -- The University of Chicago men's tennis team returns to their home courts for their first regular season match since February 16 this weekend as they host Grinnell and Holy Cross (IN) on Sunday afternoon. On Saturday, the Maroons travel to St. Louis to battle #26 WashU.
#4 UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO NOTES:
* UChicago comes in with a 15-2 record overall this season.
* The Maroons capped off their spring trip with a 3-1 record overall. They tallied wins over #32 Chapman, #29 Pomona-Pitzer, and #14 Johns Hopkins. Their lone loss came in the Stag-Hen Open Championship match with a 4-3 defeat to #1 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
* The match against WashU on Saturday will be the final match in a streak of 12 consecutive matches against ranked opponents. The Maroons are 9-2 in those 11 previous matches.
* Each of the past nine wins for UChicago have come against top-35 teams including #5 Denison, #14 Johns Hopkins (twice), #16 and #34 Gustavus Adolphus, #22 Carnegie Mellon, #27 Washington and Lee, #29 Pomona-Pitzer, and #32 Chapman.
* The doubles team of
Pat Otero and
Andrei Leonov enters as the #4 doubles team in the Central Region this season.

Alexander Ekstrand enter the weekend as the #6 singles players in the Central Region.

Derek Hsieh and
Michael Choi also come in the Central Region singles rankings at #14 and #19.
* Following this weekend, the Maroons will return to their home courts for their final regular season match of the year as they host UW-Whitewater on Saturday afternoon.
#26 WASHU NOTES:
* WashU comes in at 6-6 with a perfect 5-0 record on their home courts.
* The Bears picked up a 7-0 win over Principia on Monday after dropping three straight matches to #4 Denison, #5 Case Western, and #17 Kenyon.
* Colin Scruggs comes in as the #4 singles player in the Central Region this season. He comes in at 11-8 on the year.
* Eric Kuo is also ranked in the top-10 in singles in the Central Region. He is 12-3 on the season.
* In doubles play, the duo of Stefan Hester and Patricio Garcia Muriel Pasquel is the #2 doubles team in the Central Region. The duo has been lights out with a 13-5 record overall in doubles.
* Following their match with UChicago, WashU will return to their home courts to battle DI Creighton.
GRINNELL NOTES:
* Grinnell comes in at 8-10 on the season and 3-0 in the conference.
* The Pioneers have won four consecutive matches with a 7-0 scoreline after a tough 4-10 start to the year.
* Grinnell lost 10 consecutive matches this spring with seven of those 10 matches coming against top-35 teams.
* Prior to their match with UChicago, the Pioneers will open their Chicago weekend with a conference match at Lake Forest on Saturday.
* Henry Park has been the top singles player with an 8-9 record this season.
* Grinnell will return to action next Saturday for the final day of the regular season as they host Ripon and Lawrence for a doubleheader while also traveling to St. Louis to battle #26 WashU.
HOLY CROSS (IN)Â NOTES:
* Holy Cross comes in at 9-2 overall on the season and 3-0 in conference play.
* The Saints have won five consecutive matches including wins over Marian (IN), Judson (IL), and Olivet Nazarene (IL) in April.
* Holy Cross defeated UChicago 4-3 in an exhibition match earlier this season.Â
* The Saints picked up wins from Perry Gregg, Luca McManus, Oscar Wai, and Naithaolin Golmei in the victory.
* Holy Cross closes out the regular season on Monday as they travel to Davenport, Iowa to take on St. Ambrose.
SERIES HISTORY:
* UChicago narrowly leads the all-time series 15-14 over WashU with wins in three consecutive meetings.
* The Maroons won all three meetings in 2024 with a 6-3 win in the regular season, a 5-2 win in the UAA Tournament, and a 5-0 win in the NCAA Tournament.
* UChicago is 3-0 all-time against Holy Cross (IN) with wins of 5-2, 4-3, and 5-2 in the past three years.
* The Maroons are 4-0 all-time against Grinnell, but this will be just the second meeting between the two teams in the past 15 years.
