ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The University of Chicago men's tennis team picked up their 16th win of the season and their 11th win over a ranked opponent on Saturday as they took down #26 WashU 4-3 on the road.

The Maroons opened the match with a dominating performance in doubles play, sweeping all three positions. The team of Andrei Leonov and Pat Otero rolled to a 6-1 victory at the top doubles spot. Derek Hsieh and Alexander Ekstrand clinched the doubles point for UChicago with a 6-3 win at #2 doubles, and just moments later, the #3 doubles team of Robert Zhang and Jack Wong completed the doubles sweep with a 6-4 win.

In singles play, UChicago rolled to a quick 3-0 advantage with a 6-2, 6-2 win by Ajer Sher and a 6-3, 6-4 win by Michael Choi at #4 and #3 singles.

Matthew Liew then clinched the match victory as he held on for a 6-1, 7-5 victory in straight sets. The remaining three matches all went to a third set, and WashU triumphed in all three, but the Maroons picked up the 4-3 victory.

With the win, the Maroons improve to 16-2 on the season and 11-2 against ranked opponents. The team returns to their home courts on Sunday for their first matches in Chicago since the middle of February as they take on Grinnell at 11 AM CT and Holy Cross at 3 PM CT.
