#1 Women's Tennis Welcomes Warhawks for Regular Season Finale

CHICAGO, Ill. -- The University of Chicago women's tennis team returns to their home courts for their final match of the 2024-25 regular season as they host the UW-Whitewater Warhawks at 3 PM CT at the XS Tennis Center.

#1 UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO NOTES:

* UChicago enters the weekend with a 16-1 record overall this season.
* The Maroons have won 11 straight matches, nine of which came to ranked opponents, and their only loss this season came to Toledo, a Division I opponent, with a 5-2 loss on February 22.
* UChicago won the ITA Indoor National Championships earlier this spring with wins over #18 Sewanee (7-0), #5 Emory (5-2), and #2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (4-1).
* The Maroons took down #3 Emory in Atlanta for eighth top-25 win of the season. The win in Atlanta was the first home loss for Emory since 2013.
* Clara Zou leads the Maroons with a 22-2 record in singles play this season after winning the ITA Regional Championship in the fall.
* Erica Ekstrand has also added 16 singles wins on the year with just four losses to her name. She enters the weekend ranked as the #4 singles player in the Central Region.
* Sylwia Mikos and Sarena Biria are also ranked in the Central Region at #3 and #14 in singles.
* Oliwia Mikos and Sylwia Mikos lead the way in doubles with 19 and 17 wins, respectively. The duo is ranked as the #1 doubles team in the Central Region this season.
* Shianna Guo and Lauren Khou are ranked as the #8 doubles team in the Central Region with a 7-3 record as a tandem this season.
* Following this weekend, UChicago will set their sights on the 2025 UAA Tennis Championships in Altamonte Springs, Florida from April 24-26.

UW-WHITEWATER NOTES:

* UW-Whitewater enters the weekend at 12-7 overall and 5-1 in WIAC play.
* The Warhawks have won back-to-back matches over North Central (IL) and Carthage last weekend.
* UW-Whitewater has alos picked up wins over Roosevelt, The College of the Desert, and Luther during the spring season.
* The Warhawks have only played two ranked opponents this season with a 7-0 loss to #2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and a 4-3 loss to #39 Chapman.
* Following their match with the Maroons, the Warhawks will compete in the WIAC Tournament next weekeend with the AQ to the NCAA Tournament on the line.

SERIES HISTORY:

* UChicago holds a 14-1 record overall against UW-Whitewater with wins in 13 consecutive meetings.
* The Maroons took down the Warhawks 8-1 in their last meeting in 2024.
* The last win for UW-Whitewater over UChicago came back in 2008 with a 5-4 victory for the Warhawks.
