Softball Travels to #19 UW-Whitewater for Midweek Matchup at 4 PM CT

CHICAGO, Ill. -- The University of Chicago softball team will travel to UW-Whitewater to take on the #19 ranked Warhawks for a midweek matchup. The Maroons are coming off a win at #13 CWRU.

UCHICAGO NOTES:

* The Maroons enter their mid-week doubleheader with a 15-15 record overall on the season and a 4-8 record in the UAA.
* This series will mark eight consecutive games against top-20 opponents for the Maroons with a 3-3 record so far against #18 Emory and #13 Case Western Reserve.
* Paige Heffke has been huge for the Maroons on the mound this season with a 2.39 ERA, a 0.97 WHIP, and 101 strikeouts.
* Heffke is just 18 innings pitched, 5 starts, and 7 appearances from breaking the career school records in all three different categories.
* Natalie Antin has been the top offensive threat for the Maroons this season with a 0.378 batting average and 34 hits. The sophomore boasts an impressive 0.397 career batting average and is riding a career-long 11-game hitting streak.
* Antin and Madeline Murphy both enter the week just one multi-hit game away from reaching 30 for their careers with both players leading the current team in that category.
* Sedona Ding has had a breakout freshman season for UChicago as she has tallied a .464 on-base percentage with 28 hits and 20 walks. She has also stolen 21 bases, just seven away from breaking the all-time single-season record.
* Laila Sims broke the all-time stolen bases record for UChicago earlier this season. She sits atop the charts with 74 stolen bases in her career, including 15 this season.
* The Maroons will have the upcoming weekend off before hitting the road again next week for another trip to Wisconsin as they battle Carthage on Tuesday afternoon.

#18 UW-WHITEWATER NOTES:

* Whitewater enters the Top-25 poll this week at the #18 spot with a 23-5 record. 
* Most recently, the Warhawks split a doubleheader with UW-Eau Claire. 
* Whitewater will play back-to-back doubleheaders as their matchup with UChicago will be the second team they face after UW-Platteville on Tuesday night. 
* Bella Eggert takes the top hitting spot with a .425 batting average. In 80 at bats, she has recorded 34 hits and 22 runs. 
* On the pitching side, Josie Hamman has been a rock star for the Warhawks. With a record of 10-1, Hamman has recorded 46 strikeouts and only allowed 17 runs in her 61 innings pitched. 
* Following their games against UChicago, the Warhawks will host UW-La Crosse for another weekend WIAC doubleheader. 

SERIES HISTORY:

* The last time these two teams met, Chicago took the 9-1 win. 
* Whitewater holds the upper hand in the all-time series record at 32-25.  
* In the first game of last year's doubleheader matchup, Audrey Hui recorded three hits while Madeline Muphy and Natalie Antin finished with two each.
