Elisabella Forest and
Karen Zhao capped off their careers by being named as CSC Academic All-amerticans, as released by College Sports Communicators on Tuesday morning.
Elisabella Forest earned 3rd-Team Academic All-American honors after she was a three-time All-American at the NCAA Championships in March, and she was one of just two UChicago swimmers to earn 1st-Team All-American honors. She brought home the top two individual performances for the Maroons in the meet with a 4th-place finish in the 100 Backstroke and a 5th-place finish in the 200 Backstroke. The Chino Hills, California native currently holds the school record in both the 100 Backstroke (54.46) and the 200 Backstroke (1:58.62).
Forest is just the fifth student-athlete from the University of Chicago women's swimming and diving team to ever earn CSC Academic All-American honors, joining Agnes Lo, Elizabeth Cron, Filippa Kolokotsa, and Zhao.
Karen Zhao became just the second 1st-Team Academic All-American in school history after she was one of just two individuals for UChicago to earn 1st-Team All-American honors in an individual event as she brought home a 5th-place finish in the 200 Freestyle. Zhao finished the meet with five All-American awards overall for the Maroons. The Bogart, Georgia native ranks top-5 in school history in the 50 Freestyle, 100 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle, and 200 IM, and she earned All-UAA honors with top-8 finishes in seven different events at the UAA Championships.
Zhao is the first member of the women's swimming and diving team to ever earn multiple CSC Academic All-American honors during their career after earning 3rd-Team honors in 2023. She also joins Filippa Kolokotsa as the only two women's swimmers to earn 1st-Team All-American honors as a Maroon.
The Academic All-American awards for Forest and Zhao also extend the University of Chicago streak to 10 consecutive calendar years and 13 of the past 14 years dating back to 2010.
