CHICAGO, Ill. -- The University of Chicago softball team placed five student-athletes on the CSC Academic All-District Team, as released by College Sports Communicators on Tuesday afternoon. The five student-athletes earning Academic All-District honors include
Natalie Antin,
Paige Heffke,
Audrey Hui,
Matilda Nelson, and
Laila Sims.
Natalie Antin earns Academic All-District honors after hitting .350 and leading the Maroons with 42 hits and 7 doubles. The sophomore from Los Angeles, California ranks 7th in UChicago program history with a .380 career batting average through two seasons, and she has started all but three games for the Maroons so far in her career. She has compiled career totals of 89 hits, 34 runs scored, 14 doubles, and a .929 OPS.
Paige Heffke was named an Academic All-District honoree after having one of the best pitching seasons in UChicago history this season. Heffke earned 16 wins in the circle and compiled 125 strikeouts, a 2.10 ERA, and a 0.90 WHIP in 166.1 innings for the Maroons. Her 31 appearances and 25 starts both rank top-3 in a single-season in school history, and she also ranked top-4 in both wins and innings pitched in 2025. The North Royalton, Ohio native caps off one of the best pitching careers in UChicago history, breaking the career school records with 96 appearances, 79 starts, 527.0 innings pitched, and 7 saves. She also became just the second UChicago player in program history to win 50 career games, finishing just one win of the program record.
Audrey Hui earned a spot on the Academic All-District team after starting all 40 games for the Maroons while recording a .325 batting average with 38 hits and 28 RBIs. Hui ranks 10th in UChicago single-season history with her 28 RBIs, and she is just the 13th player in UChicago history to appear in 40 or more games in a single season. The sophomore from Cumming, Georgia has compiled career totals of 69 hits, 39 RBIs, 36 runs scored, and a .325 career batting average for the Maroons.
Matilda Nelson was named as an Academic All-District honoree after she led the Maroons in slugging percentage, OPS, doubles, home runs, and RBIs. Nelson recorded a .591 slugging percentage with 7 doubles, and she ranked third in school history with 7 home runs and 32 RBIs en route to having an OPS over 1.000. The sophomore from Lima, Ohio has tallied career totals of 54 hits, 37 runs, 8 doubles, and 7 home runs for the Maroons.
Laila Sims earned a spot on the Academic All-District team after leading the Maroons to another 20-win season during her senior season. Sims swiped 19 bags and tallied 12 extra-base hits en route to an OPS just shy of .800. The senior from Suwanee, Georgia caps off her career ranked 4th with 14 home runs, 6th with 86 career runs scored, and 9th with 47 career walks, and she shattered the school record by swiping 78 bags in her career.
The Maroons capped off the season with their fourth consecutive 20-win season as they finished the season 21-19 and 10-8 in the UAA. The Maroons won six straight games to end the 2025 season to lock up fourth place in the UAA.
CSC Academic All-District Team honorees are chosen by the national organization based on combined academic and athletic accomplishments. Nominees must have a GPA above 3.50 in at least the sophomore year, and they must have either played in 90% or started 66% of their team's games. Heffke has also earned a spot on the Academic All-America ballot which will be voted on by sports information directors around the country. The 2025 Academic All-America team will be announced on Tuesday, June 17.
