DALLAS, Texas -- The University of Chicago was well-represented on the Chicago Korean Tennis Association team at the 23rd Bi-Annual Korean-American Sports Festival in Dallas, Texas from June 20-22.

Isabelle Chong represented the Maroons on the Chicago women's tennis team, teaming up with Madison Liu from Boston University and Lani Brotman from the University of Colorado. The Chicago team swept the top three spots in the singles tournament with Chong bringing home the Silver Medal in singles play. Then, in doubles play, Chong teamed up with Liu to bring home the Gold in the doubles portion of the tournament.
On the men's side, University of Chicago junior
Michael Choi helped lead the Chicago Korean Tennis Association men's team to a top finish in the event. Choi earned the Gold Medal in the singles portion of the competition, and he teamed up with David Chong, the younger brother of
Isabelle Chong, to place second and bring home the Doubles Silver Medal.
The Chicago Korean Tennis Association brought home their top overall results in the past 40 years of the Korean-American Sports Festival, earning four of the six singles medals and a gold and silver medal in doubles.
The Korean-American Sports Festival occurs every two years during the summer since the inaugural 1981 competition held in Los Angeles with the goal of bringing together the Korean-American community as well as seeking harmony and unity amongst all Korean-Americans. The next edition of the Korean-American Sports Festival will occur during the summer of 2027.
