Box Score FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- The University of Chicago women's tennis team opened their 2025-26 season this weekend at the Jon Messick Invitational at Colorado State University. The Maroons battled eight Division I programs including Air Force, Colorado State, Montana State, New Mexico State, Utah, Utah State, Weber State, and Wyoming.

UChicago opened doubles play with their first flight championship of the weekend as the freshman duo of Anika Paul and Tina Kintiroglou took down teams from Utah and Utah State to win the E Flight of doubles.

Lauren Khou and Lily Zawaneh advanced to the finals of the B Flight with a win over Utah State, but they fell to another team from Utah State in the finals. Then, in the C Flight, Ariana Liu and Sunny Lu picked up a win over Wyoming before falling to Utah in the finals.

In singles play, Ariana Liu had the highlight win of the day as she took down Magdalena Nunez Pureco from Utah State in a three-set thriller to advance to the Singles Championship in the G Flight. Tina Kintiroglou added the lone other singles win for the Maroons on Saturday with a three-set win over Savannah Johnson from Weber State.

The Maroons will return to the courts on Sunday in Fort Collins for the final day of the Jon Messick Invitational. The UChicago players will play the final match of the singles draw to cap off the tournament.
