#2 Women's Tennis Travels to St. Louis for ITA Central Regionals

CHICAGO, Ill. -- The University of Chicago women's tennis team returns to action this weekend as they travel to St. Louis for the 2025 ITA Central Regional Tournament at WashU. The tournament will begin on Friday with two rounds of singles and two rounds of doubles, and it will continue in the same format throughout the weekend. * UChicago opened the season last weekend with the Jon Messick Invitational at Colorado State University.
* The Maroons finished the invite with a 12-20 singles record and a 10-13 doubles record on the weekend. Sarena Biria and Ariana Liu led the team with two singles wins.
* In doubles play, the duo of Tina Kintiroglou and Anika Paul gave the Maroons their lone fight win of the tournament with a perfect 2-0 record.
* Liu earned UAA Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week honors after finishing in second place in singles and both doubles draws. She recorded records of 2-1 in singles and 2-2 doubles against all Division I opponents.
* Last season, UChicago capped off the year with a loss in the NCAA Quarterfinals to the eventual National Champions, WashU, to finish the season with a 22-2 record overall.
* The Maroons won their fourth consecutive UAA title and their sixth overall UAA title last season, and they also brought home the ITA Indoor National Championship last spring with wins over #18 Sewanee (7-0), #5 Emory (5-2), and #2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (4-1).
* Clara Zou led the team in singles wins last season with a 26-2 record overall as a freshman.
* Sarena Biria added an 18-7 singles record, and Isabelle Chong finished the year 17-3.
* In doubles play, Oliwia Mikos is the top returning player with a 22-11 record in 2024-25.
* Charlotte Klein put up 18 doubles wins with a record of 18-8 on the year.
* After competing in the ITA Central Regionals this weekend, the Maroons will return to their home courts for the Chicago Cup on October 4-5.
