Men's Track & Field Tallies Nine Event Wins in First-Place Finish at Phoenix Invite

CHICAGO -- The University of Chicago men's track and field team brought home nine event wins and 17 top-2 finishes in the first home meet of the season as the Maroons won the Phoenix Invite on Saturday.

Simon Dixon led the Maroons with a pair of first-place finishes in the Shot Put and Weight Throw. His mark of 16.43 meters and 53' 11" in the Shot Put ranks sixth in NCAA Division III, and his mark of 16.92 meters and 55' 6.25" ranks 23rd in NCAA DIII this season.

Aryan Shrivastava also won a pair of field events for the Maroons, sweeping the High Jump and Triple Jump events. His mark in the Triple Jump of 14.69 meters and 48' 2.5" ranks as the third-best in school history, the sixth-best in NCAA Division III, and the 73rd-best in all divisions of the NCAA this season. Also, his High Jump mark of 2.00 meters and 6' 6.75" ranks as the 16th-best in NCAA Division III this season.

Vincent Crenshaw rounded out the multiple event winners for UChicago as the junior won the 800m Run and the 4x400m Relay.

Adrian Diem added a top-10 mark in NCAA Division III this season as his winning Pole Vault mark of 4.70 meters and 15' 5" ranks seventh in the country, fourth in UChicago history, and it ties the all-time UChicago freshman record.

Jackson Giampa broke his way into the top-10 all-time in school history with his time of 7.00 seconds in the 60m Dash ranking 10th in program history. Ethan Hoffman joined Giampa with a top-10 performance as his mark of 14.55 meters in the Shot Put ranks eighth in UChicago history and tied for second-best ever by a UChicago freshman. Daniel Hernandez also ranked eighth in program history with a mark of 13.90 in the Triple Jump.

The team will return to action on next weekend as the Maroons travel to Grand Valley State for the Bob Eubanks Open on Saturday, January 17.
