CHICAGO -- The University of Chicago women's swimming & diving team swept the UAA Women's Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week awards, as announced by the University Athletic Association on Monday afternoon. Sophomore Sumiye Allen was named the UAA Women's Diver of the Week, and freshman Sophia Xu tallied UAA Women's Swimmer of the Week honors.

Sumiye Allen was the top UChicago diver in both events on Saturday and helped earn the Maroons four points in their showdown with DI #21 Northwestern. The sophomore from Los Angeles, California recorded scores of 248.25 in the 1-meter competition and 264.68 in the 3-meter competition.

Sophia Xu recorded her top time of her career in the 50 Freestyle on Saturday to earn the lone B-Cut of the meet on the women's side. The time of 23.43 for the freshman from Arcadia, California ranks fourth in the UAA and 15th in NCAA Division III this season.

The Athlete of the Week award for Allen is the third of her career and the first of the season for the sophomore. The honor is the first of the career for Xu.

Allen, Xu, and the rest of the UChicago women's swimming & diving team will return to action next weekend with a pair of home meets against UIC on Friday, January 16, and #10 Calvin on Saturday, January 17.
