CHICAGO -- The sixth-ranked University of Chicago women's swimming and diving team fell short in a dual meet with UIC on Friday evening, with top-level diving performances pacing the Maroons.
Lilia Atanda led the Maroons with a pair of first-place finishes and a pair of B Cut scores in diving. The junior won the 1m event with a score of 277.88, and she added a win in the 3-meter competition with a score of 280.13.
Veronica Fong joined Atanda with the top-level diving performances as she finished third in the 3-meter competition with a B Cut score of 263.18.
Alicia Soosai added the lone event win in the swimming portion of the meet for the Maroons with a time of 1:06.87 in the 100 Breaststroke. She also added second-place finishes in the 200 Breaststroke and 200 Medley Relay.
Alexandra Milisavljevic added multiple second-place finishes for UChicago in the distance freestyle events. The freshman swam a time of 5:04.77 in the 500 Freestyle and a time of 10:24.74 in the 1000 Freestyle event.
With the loss, the Maroons fall to 4-2 on the season. The team returns to action on Saturday, January 17, as the team hosts the Calvin Knights at the Myers-McLoraine Pool on Senior Day.
