CHICAGO -- The fourth-ranked University of Chicago men's swimming and diving team earned a Senior Day victory over #10 Calvin on Saturday, securing 12 first-place finishes across 16 events to take down the Knights.
Four different Maroons claimed two individual victories apiece, led by freshmen Ethan Taylor and Gray Spencer. Taylor had a strong showing in the breaststroke events, winning the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 55.53 and the 200 Breaststroke with a time of 2:00.91. Spencer swept the distance freestyle events, winning the 500 Freestyle with a time of 4:40.21 and the 1000 Freestyle with a time of 9:39.34.
John Butler and Cooper Costello joined in on the multi-win action, combining for four first-place finishes. Butler recorded B cut times in three of his four events, including the 100 Free, 200 Free, and 50 Free on the opening leg of the 200 Free Relay.
The Maroons also dominated the diving events, sweeping both events behind Zachary Berg and Danyal Ghadiali. Ghadiali captured first place in the 3-meter with a score of 258.23, while Berg took the top spot in the 1-meter with a score of 256.20.
With the win, the Maroons improve at 6-1 on the season. UChicago will return to the pool on January 31 as the team travels to Michigan for their final dual meet of the season against #17 Hope.
