College Sports Communicators (CSC) began the Academic All-America program in 1952 as an effort to honor elite student-athletes who excel in both competition and the classroom.Â
Since 1976, UChicago student-athletes have been honored 90 times with CSC Academic All-America status.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. No student-athlete is eligible until he/she has reached sophomore athletic eligibility.
