IM Rules: Bowling

Revised: Fall 2019

1. Each team is scheduled for a round robin season.

2. Matches are to be played in a best 2-out-3 game format. The team with the highest aggregate team score at the end of each game will be declared the winner for that particular game. (Managers may mutually agree on a different match format, if needed, due to time constraints. This should be decided prior to beginning play).

3. The managers should decide how many players from each team compete in their match each week BUT this number should be the same for both teams (e.g. 3-on-3, 4-on-4, 5-on-5). As a rule of thumb, teams should be coed and team managers must agree on the coed requirements prior to playing each week.

4. Managers are to contact their opponent and MUTUALLY agree upon date, time and location to play the match. Teams must play each match BY the "play by" date on the schedule. Team managers should start communicating at the start of the week they are scheduled to play, if not earlier.

5. Teams are responsible for all lane fees, shoe rentals and any other associated fees. Seven Ten Lanes in Hyde Park (1055 E. 55th Street) is offering FREE use of their lanes on Mondays-Thursdays to all registered IM Bowling teams. Normal lane rates apply on Fridays-Sundays.

6. If your teams choose to play at Seven Ten Lanes in Hyde Park for the weekly match, the team manager should call ahead (773-347-2695) to ensure lanes are available and reserve space.

7. Upon completion of the match, the winning team captain must report scores via e-mail to Matt Fox (foxm@uchicago.edu). Please include each game score for both teams when reporting.

8. If a team fails to show for the pre-arranged match, matches will be recorded as a forfeit upon notifying the IM Office.

9. If a team fails to respond to two or more attempts to schedule a match, then the match will be recorded as a forfeit AFTER the attempted e-mails have been forwarded to Matt Fox (foxm@uchicago.edu) for verification.

10. The top team(s) from each division at the end of the regular season will compete in a single elimination postseason tournament.
