INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – University of Chicago senior Elizabeth Cron claimed a national title at day two of the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships on Thursday.
On the diving side of the natatorium, Cron was indomitable from morning prelims all the way through her final attempt of the night. With four All-American awards already on her career resume, Cron reached new heights on the women's one-meter board.
The Maroon senior dominated the prelims with 457.75 points, which stood 41 points clear of the next closest competitor. Cron delivered again in the finals with a score of 487.40 points, securing the first NCAA diving title in school history.
"Elizabeth's performance today on the one-meter board was the equivalent of a masterpiece," said Head Diving Coach Becky Benson. "Her diving was certainly the result of hard work, maturity and experience. It was a lot of fun for me to experience her victory."
