GREENSBORO, N.C. – The University of Chicago captured their second national championship of the second day of the 2025 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships on Thursday. The team of Jonathan TangRylan KruepIgor Benderskii, and Sebastien Vernhes won the title in the 200 Freestyle Relay with a school record time of 1:18.51.

The relay team's victory marked the 32nd NCAA individual championship in the school's Division III era. The group of Maroons is just the third relay team in school history to win the National Championship, joining teams in 2015 and 2022. This was also the first time in school history that UChicago won the 200 Freestyle Relay championship.

UChicago opened the day in the preliminary races with the #2 overall seed time of 1:20.01. In the finals, the Maroons raced away from the rest of the field three of the four swimmers put up sub-20 second legs of the relay to win the title with a school record time of 1:18.51. Benderskii and Vernhes led the group with 50-yard Freestyle times of 19.24 and 19.29 to cap off the third and fourth legs of the relay in just 38.53 seconds.
