GREENSBORO, N.C. – The University of Chicago captured their fourth national championship of the 2025 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships on Saturday night in the final race of the meet. The team of Cooper Costello, Daniel Brooks, John Butler, and Sebastien Vernhes won the title in the 400 Freestyle Relay with a school record time of 2:54.20.
The relay team's victory marked the 34th NCAA individual championship in the school's Division III era. The group of Maroons is just the fifth relay team in school history to win the National Championship. This also marks the first time in program history that the swimming and diving team won multiple relay National Championships in the same season after the Maroons swept all three Freestyle Relay championships.
UChicago capped off day four of the NCAA Championships with a dominating performance in the 400 Freestyle Relay to earn their third relay National Championship and fourth overall National Championship of the meet. The Maroons' team shattered the school record with a time of 2:54.20.
