GREENSBORO, N.C. – The University of Chicago captured their third national championship of the 2025 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships on Friday evening. The team of Alex SchwartzCooper CostelloSebastien Vernhes, and John Butler winning the title in the 800 Freestyle Relay with a time of 6:26.98, breaking both the school record and the NCAA record.

The relay team's victory marked the 33rd NCAA individual championship in the school's Division III era. The group of Maroons is just the fourth relay team in school history to win the National Championship. This also marks the first time in program history that the swimming and diving team won multiple relay National Championships in the same season.

UChicago capped off day three of the NCAA Championships with a dominating performance in the 800 Freestyle Relay to earn their second relay National Championship and third overall National Championship of the meet. The Maroons' team shattered the  school record and tied the all-time NCAA record with a time of 6:26.98 as they won the title by nearly 3.5 seconds.
