Nicole Murphy enters her 12th year as the Assistant Men's and Women's Track & Field Coach and her 11th year as the Assistant Men's and Women's Cross Country Coach at the University of Chicago in the 2025-26 academic year.

As a collegiate athlete, she put together a very successful four-year run as a member of the UChicago track & field team. Murphy was a multiple All-American, highlighted by a second-place finish nationally in the shot put. She was a seven-time University Athletic Association (UAA) champion in the shot put and owns the conference records for the indoor and outdoor shot put. Over her four years, she scored in the UAA Championships a total of 19 times between the shot put, discus, hammer throw, weight throw and javelin.

Murphy graduated from UChicago in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in South Asian Languages and Civilizations.
