Dr. James W. Dwyer, MD is a board-certified orthopedic spine surgeon and the Medical Director of the New Jersey Spine Institute in Bedminster, NJ. With more than 30 years of experience, he is recognized for his expertise in minimally invasive spine surgery, spinal disc replacement, and complex spinal reconstruction. Dr. Dwyer earned his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) and completed a prestigious spine surgery fellowship through the San Francisco Spine Surgery Fellowship program.
A pioneer in the field, Dr. Dwyer performed New Jersey’s first arthroscopic microdiscectomy, laparoscopically assisted lumbar fusion, and L4-L5 artificial disc replacement. He has contributed to FDA studies on spinal implants, developed stem cell protocols for disc disease, and holds multiple U.S. patents for spinal implant technologies.
Dr. Dwyer is a member of several leading professional organizations and has been named a Castle Connolly Top Doctor multiple times. In addition to his clinical work, he is a dedicated educator and author, having published extensively in the field of spinal surgery.
Together, Deb and Jim have five children, including two daughters who are both scholar-athletes at the University of Chicago.
