Joe Shilts enters his first year as the Assistant Football Coach at the University of Chicago in the 2025-26 academic year. He will serve as the Defensive Assistant in 2025.
Shilts joins the UChicago coaching staff after spending the past two seasons coaching high school football as the quarterbacks and defensive backs coach at Lincoln Park High School in Chicago in 2024 and at Dalton High School in Dalton, Ohio in 2023.
Prior to his coaching career, Shilts earned his Bachelor's degree in Communication Studies and Education in 2023 from The College of Wooster. He also spent four years playing cornerback for the Fighting Scots.
