Matthew Fox enters his eighth year as the Director of Intramurals and Recreational Sports at the University of Chicago in the 2025-26 academic year.
In his role, Fox is responsible for the planning and coordination of 34 intramural sports which feature more than 900 teams, 8,000 participants, and 2,000 contests each year. In Spring 2020, Fox introduced esports and virtual games, with 12 additional intramural activities being offered.
Before arriving at the University of Chicago, Fox spent five years at ZogSports where he managed adult social sports leagues in New Jersey and Chicago. Prior to that, Fox was the Supervisor of Sports and Recreation at JCC MetroWest in New Jersey for six years.
Fox previously served as coach of the JCC MetroWest Soccer Team, competing in the JCC Maccabi Games - an Olympic-style sporting competition for Jewish teenagers held each summer in North America. In 2014, his team won the gold medal. Fox also served as team manager for the gold medal winning Maccabi USA Men’s Basketball Team which competed in the Pan American Maccabi Games in Sao Paulo, Brazil in 2012.
Fox holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Delaware.
