Box Score CHICAGO, Ill. – The University of Chicago men's soccer team lost to No. 14-ranked Wheaton College 2-0 on Tuesday.
The Maroons dropped to 5-4-0 on the season and the Thunder improved to 8-2-0.
UChicago created most of its best opportunities on the counterattack. The Maroons stripped the ball from the Thunder on several occasions and made runs into the attacking third. However, UChicago was limited to five shots in the match.
The visitors got on the board via penalty kick in the 39th minute. A Wheaton attacker was taken down in the goalie box for a foul and Noah Anthony's ensuing shot found the back of the net. The Thunder's second goal came via Max Carey from the left side in the 71st minute.
The Thunder led the shots (17-5) and corner kicks (3-2) categories in the final statistics. UChicago freshman goalie Hill Bonin (3-1-0) made four saves and allowed two goals in his 90 minutes between the pipes.
