CHICAGO – No. 21 University of Chicago men's soccer had to regroup quickly after defeating Illinois Wesleyan in the opening game of the NCAA tournament as they were immediately faced with a second-round meeting against Ohio Wesleyan just over 24 hours after beating the Titans. Down 1-0 at the half, the Maroons controlled the game during the last 45 minutes and came from behind to advance to the third round with a 2-1 win over the Battling Bishops.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The opening stanza between No. 21 University of Chicago (11-2-5) and Ohio Wesleyan (13-6-1) was surprisingly chippy but the Maroons tried to stay within themselves and play their own brand of soccer. Unfortunately, it was still the Battling Bishops that led after 45 as their goal in the 33rd minute was the only of the half.
- UChicago staying discipline proved to pay off in the second stanza though. The field quickly tilted in one direction with the Maroons offense tiring out the OWU squad. Chicago finally wore down Ohio Wesleyan enough for Ryan Yetishefsky to net the game tying goal with just over 18 minutes left to play.
- The contest looked like it was destined for 20 minutes of overtime but Robbie Pino quickly escorted the ball up field and crossed it to Yetishefsky for his second strike of the game, one that proved to be the golden goal as the Maroons pulled ahead with 44 seconds left to win 2-1.
