(RV) Women's Soccer Battles To 0-0 Tie At #2 WashU

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Last time the (RV) University of Chicago women's soccer team was on the road, they ended up tying the third and sixth ranked team in the country. Today was no different. The Maroons traveled to Missouri and kept the second ranked Washington University (Mo.) Bears off the scoreboard in a 0-0 draw to close out their regular season.

RESULT
(RV) University of Chicago – 0
No. 2 Washington University – 0

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • University of Chicago (9-2-7, 1-1-5 UAA) knew that their contest at No. 2 Washington University (14-1-2, 4-1-2 UAA) would be a tough one so all phases of their game would need to be firing against a Bears team that has allowed two goals all season long. The Maroons were able to get off two shots in the first half but neither found their way up to the scoreboard. The same went for the Bears however as all six of their shots proved fruitless.
  • Both teams replicated their first half shot total in the second frame. The Maroons ended up with two shots on goal in the contest, both coming from Kaitlyn Gomez, while four of the Bears 12 total shots were on target. In the end though, neither team could pull ahead of the other in a 0-0 tie.
  • Keeper Sophie Pilarski came up big for the Maroons, especially in the closing moments of the first half when she was able to cover the ball with several attackers around her to keep the score deadlocked. The junior ended up saving four in total for her sixth shutout of the season.
