CHICAGO – University of Chicago's women's soccer program started off its 2023 campaign with a 3-0 win over Fontbonne University at home on Friday evening at Stagg Field.
After a scoreless first half, the Maroons netted three second half goals to cruise to a comfortable victory.
Stella El-Fishawy put UChicago on the board in the 51
st minute with a right-footed low shot that was assisted by
Sarah Ginsburg.
Bella Mahoney scored on a strike from distance in the 63
rd minute to double the Maroon advantage.
Ella Cho wrapped up the scoring with her first career goal in her first career match in the 85
th minute on an assist of
Alai Araujo-Elorza.
Sophie Pilarski notched the clean sheet behind a strong defense, which did not surrender a shot on target. The Maroons managed 29 shots, 18 on target in the match.
UChicago takes on Dominican on Sunday, Sept. 3 at noon in River Forest, Ill.
