CHICAGO – University of Chicago's women's soccer program started off its 2023 campaign with a 3-0 win over Fontbonne University at home on Friday evening at Stagg Field.
 
After a scoreless first half, the Maroons netted three second half goals to cruise to a comfortable victory. Stella El-Fishawy put UChicago on the board in the 51^st minute with a right-footed low shot that was assisted by Sarah Ginsburg.
 
Bella Mahoney scored on a strike from distance in the 63^rd minute to double the Maroon advantage. Ella Cho wrapped up the scoring with her first career goal in her first career match in the 85^th minute on an assist of Alai Araujo-Elorza.
 
Sophie Pilarski notched the clean sheet behind a strong defense, which did not surrender a shot on target. The Maroons managed 29 shots, 18 on target in the match.
 
UChicago takes on Dominican on Sunday, Sept. 3 at noon in River Forest, Ill.
