CHICAGO – University of Chicago men's soccer hit Stagg Field in the middle of their four-game homestand and welcomed Case Western Reserve to Chicago. The Maroons offense peppered the Spartans defense with shots but couldn't get any to go in a 0-0 tie on Friday night.
RESULT
Case Western Reserve – 0
UChicago – 0
HOW IT HAPPENED
- University of Chicago (7-6-2, 2-0-2 UAA) had several chances in the first half to tally the opening goal of the game against Case Western Reserve University (5-4-4, 0-2-2 UAA) but the Spartans keeper stopped three of their eight overall attempts in the first 45 minutes to keep the score deadlocked heading into the intermission.
- The same could be said for the second stanza as the Maroons failed to sneak one past the CWRU defense, though there had to be multiple diving saves in order for that to happen. They sent another 11 shots towards their opponent's net, for a total of 19 in the contest and seven on goal.
- However, the UChicago defense was right there every step of the way as well. They allowed just three shots in each half and prevented Case Western Reserve from lighting up the scoreboard as the two teams settled for their second ties of the conference season.
